Here it is, the beginning of a fun and informative trip down the road to the Kentucky Derby! We here at Pony Bologna will bring you information on all of the Derby prep races and then, once the field is set, we will give you our picks for the Run to the Roses. We'll scour the internet looking for those little nuggets of information that will help bring you a winner on the first Saturday in May (if only we had known that Mine That Bird was gelded prior to the Derby!)
We are not professional turf writers nor are we big-time handicappers. We are, however, passionate, intelligent and (hopefully) entertaining. We have been handicapping and following the Triple Crown season for over 15 years and have had quite a bit of success. Gregg has won with longshots Thunder Gulch, Charasmatic and Giacomo, along with hitting the exacta with Big Brown/Eight Belles. Jeremy has cashed in winners with War Emblem and just last year hit the Derby trifecta bringing home nearly $1500 on a $1 bet!
We follow numerous sources of information on the web including DRF, Bloodhorse, Thoroughbred Times, The Downey Profile and Chef-De-Race. While we will give you our picks and opinions, we will also provide you with enough information to make up your own minds and find your own favorites.
